Injuries and suspensions mean Quique Setién only has a limited amount of players at his disposal for the key Champions League match

Suspensions, injuries and the rebellious Arthur Melo mean Quique Setien has a limited set of players to prepare for the Napoli match with. Napoli are the visitors to the Camp Nou on the August 8th but Barça only have 14 senior players to work with. Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati have now established themselves as part of the first-team picture under Setien which brings the number of available players to 16. The rest will be made up of youth players.

Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal are suspended, Samuel Umtiti is injured and Ronald Araujo has already been ruled out. This leaves Setien with two goalkeepers (Marc-André ter Stegen and Neto), five defenders (Gerard Piqué, Clément Lenglet, Jordi Alba, Junior Firpo and Nélson Semedo) for the four available places, four midfielders (Frenkie de Jong, Sergi Roberto, Ivan Rakitic and Riqui Puig) for three spots and four forwards (Antoine Griezmann, Luis Suárez, Leo Messi and Ansu Fati) for three spaces. Ousmane Dembele could still be passed fit.

ADDITIONS

According to Gerard Romero, academy stars Iñaki Peña, Arnau Tenas, Dani Morer, Jorge Cuenca, Óscar Mingueza, Monchu, Jandro Orellana, Ludovit Reis and Konrad de la Fuente will all train alongside the senior squad.

The most likely options to make the Napoli squad are Iñaki Peña as the third-choice keeper, Cuenca and Mingueza as centre back options, Dani Morer at full-back and Monchu in midfield. How many of those actually make the cut will depend on how Umtiti, Araujo, Lenglet, Griezmann and Dembele progress from their respective injuries.
