The right-back was presented at Camp Nou on Monday after returning from Real Betis

Emerson Royal started life as a Barcelona player this week and was officially presented at Camp Nou on Monday alongside president Joan Laporta.

"For me, it's a pleasure to be here in Barcelona," he said. "I always say that I have a dream, to be here, and I want to promise that every day I step on to the pitch I will do my best.

"I know that I have worked hard to be here and I am going to take advantage of this opportunity. We can't guarantee victories, we can have good days and bad, but I will never lack commitment. Never doubt that I will give my best on the pitch."

The majority of the questions were for Laporta and related to the transfer market, but Emerson was asked what it was like to face Lionel Messi in the Copa America.

"Playing against Messi is impossible," he said. "He's the best in the world. If you switch off for one second he can do a lot of damage. Unfortunately, we (Brazil) lost against him in the final in an even game, I was sad to lose but happy for Messi because he deserved it."

Brazilian right-backs have left a mark at Camp Nou in the past: "Belletti and Dani Alves made history here. Alves is a reference for many people. I spoke with him and he told me to keep doing what I have been doing."
