The Catalan has a contract at City until the summer of 2022

Eric Garcia decided to leave Barcelona for Manchester City in 2017 when he was only 16 despite the Catalan club viewing him as one of the most promising players at La Masia.

A captain for most teams he's played for, he felt his progression would be better served at the Premier League side under Pep Guardiola.

Three years have passed and he won't regret his decision. This season, he has played six times in the Premier League and has also featured in the Champions League.

The situation could hardly be better for the player born in 2001, who is still just 19. A personal bet from Guardiola, who has praised his maturity. "Eric's an incredible kid, capable of leading the whole defence. He's intelligent, plays with focus and plays well. He will get a lot of minutes," Pep said.

Garcia's progression at City has seen them try to extend his contract. A contract that ends in 2021, not in 2022, as has been reported previously. But talks broke down due to the coronavirus pandemic and Barça are monitoring the situation, given he could return for free next summer.

For Barça, it would be a great deal. They would bring back an excellent football who has the experience of elite-level football under Guardiola.
