Sergi Roberto is set to sign a new two-year deal to extend his stay at Camp Nou

Sergi Roberto has spoken to SPORT from the Spain camp in Milan, where La Roja are preparing for Sunday's Nations League final against France at San Siro.

The Barcelona midfielder has spoken about his contract situation at Barça, with his current terms due to expire at the end of the season.

Barça president Joan Laporta told RAC1 on Friday that "there are just minor details" to sort out and praised Roberto for being willing to accept a big wage cut to stay at Camp Nou.

"Yes, I am optimistic," Roberto said in regards to penning a new deal. "The president has already spoken. It's been a busy summer, a lot has happened, and there are still things around the team going on, but as the president said, I am confident and I think it will be sealed soon."

Barça and Roberto have spoken about a two-year extension, until 2024, with a significant wage cut to help the club reduce their wage bill to comply with LaLiga's spending limits.
