Barça midfielder Pedi won't make Clásico after two months out injured

Pedri has not yet returned to training and won't feature this week for Barcelona

Barcelona midfielder Pedri's participation in the Clásico is virtually ruled out. The Spain international did not train with the rest of his teammates on Monday, so it seems impossible for him to be included in the squad for Wednesday's game against Shakhtar Donetsk. With that in mind, it is very unlikely that Pedri will be able to make his comeback in the Clásico, given that he has been injured for two months.

According to Barça's communication department, none of the injured players re-joined the group on Monday. Taking into account that this Tuesday's session will be 'light' as it is a pre-match against Shakhtar, it is already impossible that Pedri could have minutes against the Ukrainian side.

In the best-case scenario, the player from Tegueste will join up with the group later this week. That means that, after two months out injured, he should reappear in a match of the highest intensity such as the Clásico. Bearing in mind that they don't want to take the slightest risk with the midfielder, everything suggests that his reappearance will be moved to 4 November against Real Sociedad.

Caution

Barça believe that next week, which will be a free midweek as there are no Champions League games, is a much better scenario for Pedri's return. He will have accumulated more group training sessions and there will not be the added pressure of playing a match against the eternal rivals.

As for Raphinha, Xavi's other big doubt, it is also impossible for him to play against Shakhtar, but in his case they will try to get him back in the second half against Real Madrid.
