The Belgian midfielder can play as a pivot or an interior
Barcelona know they have work to do in the upcoming transfer markets. One of them is reinforcing in midfield. Xavi has just one pure pivot, Sergio Busquets, and his contract ends in June and he’s likely to depart then.
So they might need to sign two more for that position. It’s no secret that the coach likes Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and the club like Ruben Neves at Wolves too. But another name on the free market is interesting - Leicester’s Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian midfielder is also like at the club with Jordi Cruyff one of his main advocates.
He is friends with Belgium coach Roberto Martinez and they have spoken about Tielemans.
The 25 year old can play pivot or interior. He can drive the ball out and has great passing, as well as defending based on position more than physique.
He’s dangerous when he gets near the opposition box and has scored three goals in 15 games this season, and last season netted six. With the Belgian national team he’s scored five in 54 games.
Barcelona will have competition if they want him with Arsenal involved too, with Mikel Arteta a big fan.
