It was all planned out as Manchester City were willing to negotiate and the player wanted to be closer to home.
Barça, for their part, were willing to make the financial effort to bring him in.
The truth is that the player waited patiently to make the switch, although in a way he was annoyed that they left his operation for the last part of the summer market.
In that sense, Barça have not forgotten about him and will return as soon as they have the chance to sign him.
The objective, after the many signings made, is to shore up the squad with the Portuguese international next summer.
The sporting management understands that much of the work that needed to be done has been completed, although they also know that to make an even greater leap in quality the figure of Bernardo Silva shines brightly and Barça will try again next summer.
