Barça have completely ruled out making a move for Villarreal's Pau Torres

Pau Torres won't be reinforcing the defence at FC Barcelona. The club discard any chance of moving for the Villarreal centre back weeks ago and have made Eric Garcia their number one priority. Torres has impressed many onlookers with his performances this season but Barça feel that their interest is being used to ramp up the asking price.

Torres was offered to Barça at the end of last year. An enquiry was made about the cost and Torres himself was happy to make the move should a fee be agreed between the two clubs. Then came the coronavirus outbreak and now the deal is basically impossible to complete. Three Premier League clubs are after the Spanish defender but Barça don't intend to bid.

Lenglet and Pique are to remain as the first choice pairing whilst Araujo will be promoted to the senior squad this summer. Barça have already asked for a Spanish passport to ensure he doesn't take up a non-EU spot. Umtiti is set to leave after failing to overcome a knee problem and his replacement, if all goes well, is Eric Garcia.
