Barça demand rectifications from media as audit clears them in Barçagate

Barcelona spokesman Josep Vives was tasked with revealing the results from the PricewaterhouseCoopers audit into the Barçagate social media scandal on Monday. 

Vives revealed that the audit had cleared Barça of defamation against their own players via their contract with I3 Ventues and demanded the media that reported the allegations now rectify them. 

The spokesman also said that club had paid a fair price for the monitoring and analysis of social media despite allegations they'd paid over the market price in bad faith. 

"In the contraction of the services for the analysis of social media, there was no smear campaign commissioned," Vives said. "There was no corrupt conduct." 

In addition, he assured that Barça didn't pay over the odds for the services: "The value of the services was within the market price range." 

However, the club did admit that internal controls were breached, although the board of directors were regularly informed of the project. There was also no financial benefit to the club. 

After revealing the conclusions of the audit, Vives demanded that "those that imputed the aforementioned conducts to our entity rectify this information, which has no basis."

"After two months of accusations, Barça is demanding this rectification of information from the media, which has been denied by a report written by auditors who have had unlimited access to information.

"Failing to do so, Barcelona reserves the appropriate legal actions in defense of its legitimate interests."
