The Arsenal coach has made the French international a priority

It's no secret that Samuel Umtiti does not have his place at Barcelona guaranteed next season. Injuries have seen him lose his place in the team to Clement Lenglet. There is plenty of interest in the French defender, though, and Arsenal are one of the sides keen.

According to reports in England, the Arsenal boss Unai Emery has made Umtiti his top target this summer. However, the team's budget, after missing out on a Champions League place, is not enough to do a deal. They have 50 million pounds to spend, which is probably not enough to land Umtiti. In addition, he has a contract at Camp Nou until 2023 and has told the club of his desire to remain in Barcelona.

Therefore, Emery's been forced to look for a plan B and has switched to Upamecano. The French defender has a contract with Leipzig until 2021 and has a new contract offer on the table. Who knows if he will turn it down in favour of a move to the Premier League with Arsenal.
