Barça defender Todibo confirms that he wants to remain in France

The centre-back is on loan at Ligue 1 side Nice from Barcelona

Jean-Clair Todibo was an exciting signing for Barcelona in 2019 but he hasn't quite lived up to the billing and his continual loan moves have shown that he doesn't have an immediate future as part of the Catalan side's defence.

Now at Nice, playing Ligue 1 in his native France, Todibo has re-found some form following a disastrous spell with Benfica in the first half of the season.

Given his performances, the debate is open about his future once again, something he's spoken about in comments made to Foot Mercato.

"I want to stay, that's what I want," he said. "But we have to ask the directors. Personally, I am very focused on the end of the season."

A while ago, Todibo declared that he wasn't "very interested" in what was going on at Barcelona and that he would prefer to "play for [French fourth division side] Sedan than go to Barcelona and not play (...) there would also be less criticism."

Barça have been short in defence this season but have shown confidence in youngsters Ronald Araujo and Oscar Mingueza and hope to sign Eric Garcia for free.
