Barça could offer Ivan Rakitic to Juventus on a season-long loan

Juventus are ready to make one final push to land Ivan Rakitic before the transfer window closes on 2nd September. The two sides met on the 19th August when the offer was a straight swap between the Croatian and Emre Can. This is due to the fact Juve don't have the cash available to buy Rakitic this week.

However, a swap deal doesn't work for Barça as they are actively trying to reduce the number of players they have in midfield. Should Rakitic not enter the operation to sign Neymar, another option would be to loan him out for a season with an obligation to make it permanent in the summer of 2020.

This helps out Juventus as they would secure a top-quality addition to their squad but can defer the payment until next year.

Rakitic must decide

Ultimately the final word belongs to Rakitic himself. The Croatian was actually looking to extend his contract at Barça but now understands that is very unlikely. He started on the bench for both of Barça's league games and didn't even feature in the second of those.

If Rakitic remains on the bench for the match against Osasuna, he might finally admit defeat and be open to searching for a new club. Juventus are waiting to see what he decides.
