Barça could miss 'bargain' opportunity by not re-signing Mika Marmol

The defender has impressed at Andorra after arriving from Barça for free

Mika Mármol has been one of the revelations of the Spanish second division this season. The Barcelona youth product has made an impact at Andorra, where he has been one of the keys to the brilliant seventh position finish achieved by the team coached by Éder Sarabia.

Mika was transferred to the Andorran side last summer for free. Barça only reserved two clauses: an option to buy him back and to keep 50 percent of any future sale.

The buy-back clause is only €1 million, a derisory amount for a 21-year-old left-footed centre-back who has a very high potential. Barça have made no move to exercise this option, though, but the player could still make a leap forward in his career this summer.

Iñigo

Barça have preferred to reinforce the left-sided centre-back position with 32-year-old Iñigo Martínez, in order to gain solidity and experience. However, Iñigo is likely to be the fourth centre-back with Christensen, Araujo and Koundé in front of him, and he will even have to compete with Eric Garcia, whose qualities Xavi likes.

Mármol signed for Andorra for two seasons and it is very likely that a club will pay his clause of €3 million euros or get close to it. Barça would get at least 1.5 million from the sale.

That said, they would also lose control of a young centre-back who has grown up in the youth system and whose qualities could soon take him to the elite.

Mika Mármol made his first-team debut for Barcelona last season at Getafe, but the club opted to transfer him and the player has made the most of his opportunity at Andorra.
