Barcelona have explored every option in their search for a replacement for the injured Luis Suarez, who has been ruled out for the next four months following knee surgery.
Some of the deals the Catalan club looked into proved impossible, such as am move for Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez. There was contact with the Argentine striker's agents to try and do a deal this month, but it was impossible to do on a financial level at this moment in time. Inter, too, were unwilling to put a price on one of their star players this month.
Martinez has a contract at the San Siro until 2023 but during 15 days in July he will have a release clause of 111 million euros, which is something barça are keeping in mind. his good understanding with Lionel Messi for the national team, along with his ability in the box, make him one of the strikers the club are most keen on.
Along with PSV's Donyell Malen, he is one of the club's long-term targets to fill the void Suarez will eventually leave, although they will have to look elsewhere this month for a short-term solution.
