The numbers and the feelings show that Barcelona are a team on the rise. Ronald Koeman’s men were eight points behind Real Madrid and now lead them by two after this weekend. They haven’t had more than Madrid since week 29 of the 19-20 season. Nearly a whole season ago, 35 game weeks.
Part of that is because Madrid had played an extra game for a large part of the time but now they are level, with Barcelona enjoying a comeback from eight points behind in week 8.
This year the only league game Barca have dropped points in was the 1-1 draw with Cadiz.
In the Copa del Rey they also made a comeback against Sevilla from 2-0 down in the semi-final first leg, winning at home 3-0 to reach the final.
Now the question is whether they can manage it in the Champions League on Wednesday at PSG, although the 4-1 deficit may be too big…
