Xavi was proud of his team's performance but disappointed not to win

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez was happy with the performance but disappointed with the result as his side drew 1-1 with Sevilla on Monday.

Ronald Araujo cancelled out Papu Gomez's opener before Jules Kounde was sent off with half an hour to play. Barça were unable to take advantage of the extra man.

"We've dropped two points, we deserved to win, also when it was 11 v 11," Xavi said. "I saw a Barça side with personality, which is what I want, and the team is growing. We were good at pressing and circulating the ball. We competed well, despite the draw."

Xavi insisted that "this Barça is getting close to what we want, being protagonists and brave. It's the right path, but I will struggle to sleep because we had to win. They were able to cool the game, they're a veteran team, they know what to do and work well tactically.

"We also didn't have fortune. Gavi had the header, Dembele hit the post and they took the lead from a dead ball. The team is competing, improving and I am proud, just not of the draw because Barça are built to win."
