Barça bringing in cash: deals finally falling into place for player exits

This week could see the first players leave Camp Nou for a fee this summer

Barcelona acted quickly with the signings of Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Emerson. Now they have to move players on as part of Operation Exit.

The club's objective is clear: they need revenue and, if possible, for it to come in before June 30. Therefore, an intense week is underway.

As well as exits, there are also proposals for a list of up to 13 players to reduce their salaries to help cut the wage bill. There is no time to lose.

The first out will be Konrad de la Fuente and Jean-Claire Todibo, but there will be more. Talks are ongoing for Konrad to join Marseille on loan with clause to make the deal permanent for €5 million next summer.

Barça will reserve some sort of buyback option, although they're not explicitly allowed in France, so it may be that they have to settle for a large percentage of a future sale.

Todibo

The details of Todibo's move to Nice were agreed in January when he joined the French club on loan: €8.5m to make the deal permanent with €7m more in potential add-ons.

Nice will hand the defender a five year deal and Barça will maintain a percentage of any future sale.

Junior Firpo

They will be the first sales but not the only ones. Junior Firpo's also on the exit ramp. Barça prefer the offers from the Premier League because in Italy, Milan and Napoli are only offering loans.

In the coming days, more meetings will take place regarding contract renewals for Ilaix and Dembele.

More Marseille

Konrad may not be the only player to join Marseille from Barça. The Catalan club's director of football, Mateu Alemany, has a close relationship with the French club's president, Pablo Longoria.

Therefore, Alex Collado and Samuel Umtiti's names are also on the table. Barça will do their part to get the deals over the line. But Philippe Coutinho's been ruled out. His wages are too high for Marseille.
