Barça boss Valverde: We have not won La Liga yet

Ernesto Valverde insisted before the second leg against Roma that even with a 4-1 lead it was over. He even seemed annoyed in the pregame press conference at the Stadio Olimpico. For that reason, on Monday he didn't enter into assessments on when and where Barcelona can win the league. Everything is still to be decided. 

In that sense, he also stripped importance from going unbeaten through the entire league season: "Our first objective is to win La Liga, the (unbeaten season) is a means of winning it. If we don't lose, it will be great, but it's such a difficult task. No one has ever done it. It's a motivation, as is winning the double. We have that chance, but we've not achieved anything yet." 

Asked about Barca's domestic domination in comparison to their European struggles, Valverde stuck to the same line of thought: "As we've not won La Liga (this season), I can't debate why. I haven't thought about it. When we drew Roma, some thought we were already in the semifinals and we know how that ended. I won't make the same mistake." 

Questioned when and where he would like to win the league -- at home, away or by not even playing -- he couldn't have been clearer, either: "In any way possible." 

Valverde also responded to the lack of value being given to the league title at the moment: “Maybe it’s [because of] the position we’re in. If we were second, one point off the leaders, they would be giving a lot more value to [winning] the league title.”

The Barca coach is wary of Celta, too, who Barça face in La Liga on Tuesday. The Catalan side have lost their in each of the last two league campaigns, shipping four goals on each occasion. Valverde talked up the importance of Unzue's inside knowledge (he was Luis Enrique's No.2 at Camp Nou) and their dangerous strike partnership of Iago Aspas and Maxi Gomez.
