Juan Mata is out of contract at the end of the season and won't sign a new deal with the 'Red Devils'

FC Barcelona are after one of the Spanish players at Manchester United, according to 'The Sun'. The man in question is Juan Mata, who is out of contract at the end of June and has yet to sign a new contract with the English club.

The midfielder, who will turn 31 on the 28th April, is ready to negotiate a free transfer elsewhere. According to the information, Barça have studied the possibility of signing Mata on a free transfer to add more quality to their squad.

Juan Mata arrived at Manchester United in 2014 from Chelsea for a fee in the region of €45m.  The Blues themselves paid Valencia €27m for the attacking midfielder.

The Spaniard wanted a new two-year deal at United but the 'Red Devils' are only willing to discuss a one-year extension instead. This has seen talks become deadlocked.

This is why Barça are considering a move for the midfielder who is still young enough to make a difference for a top tier side. The fact he would arrive on a free transfer is another major positive, although it would still require the two parties to agree on personal terms.
