The Spain international has had to slow down and delay his return to action

Ansu Fati's recovery from the meniscus injury in his knee has suffered a setback.

The Barcelona forward was set to return to the training pitch at the end of January but the reality has proved very different.

Fati has had to change plans to get back out on the grass for more work at the training ground in the swimming pool.

At the moment, no one wants to put a concrete date on his return, although in the best case scenario the medical staff don't expect him to return until the end of March.

A more realistic expectation is that he will be back sometime in April, so he can be ruled out of the Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain.

The first alarm was raised just over a week ago when Fati admitted he still had some pain in his knee.

The teenager had stepped up his workload on the area of his knee where he was operated but the feeling weren't as hoped.

The pain intensified and finally following tests it revealed that liquid had been generated and it was essential to not just stop his daily work but to take a step back.

As revealed in recent weeks, the contact between the club and the doctor Ramon Cugat has been constant. In this case, there was agreement that such a young player with a promising career ahead needed to slow down.
