Barça and Madrid, two young midfields that could define the next decade

The Catalans and their arch rivals both have lots of young talent in their midfields, ready to shine

Gavi and Aurelien Tchouameni are two of the names ringing out most loudly at the end of the 2021-22 season. Gavi is shining for Spain and negotiating a new deal with Barcelona, while the Frenchman has penned a contract with Real Madrid and playing for the France national team. The two biggest teams in Spain have players who can be key parts of their midfield for years to come.

Barcelona are in one of the most complicated moments in their history on and off the field, but bright lights have been Pedri and Gavi in midfield. They have made Frenkie de Jong sellable, at just 19 and 17 years old respectively. Nico Gonzalez is there too, another player who could be big in the future.

Meanwhile in Madrid, they have done their homework too. Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have been crucial for a decade but Los Blancos are working on the next generation.

Tchouameni, Fede Valverde and Camavinga are their biggest bets. We’ll also have to see how Dani Ceballos fits in.
