Barca and Madrid knocking on Van de Beek's door
The Ajax midfielder is poised to leave the club and in Holland they say Madrid are negotiating
Donny Van de Beek looks like he may be the next Ajax star to shine in La Liga. In the last weeks people working on behalf of Real Madrid and Barcelona have spoken to the Dutch club to sound out their options on the midfielder at the end of the season.
The 22 year old has been of interest to the Spanish sides for a while, with his name frequently linked with a transfer, although Ajax managed to hold onto one of their stars.
In Holland they say that the contact has started to turn into negotiation. Barcelona know Madrid are a step ahead, having sat down with the player's agentand Ajax directors to say they are ready to sign the player. However they think the deal is not sealed and have not ruled out a push for the midfielder.
The Van de Beek deal would cost between 50 and 60 million euros. A number Madrid would pay without a problem. Barcelona for now have only asked Marc Overmars, Ajax's sporting director, for a bit of time to sort out their prorities when it comes to the winter window.
