The defender is out of contract in the summer and Barça want him at Camp Nou

Barcelona are still working on improving the squad in the summer and one of the names on the table is Chelsea and Spain defender Cesar Azpilicueta.

According to El Chiringuito, the Chelsea captain practically has an agreement in place with Barça to join the club on a three-year deal when his contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer.

Per the same information, the third year could be optional.

Azpilicueta, 32, would strengthen Xavi's defence and add versatility to the backline, given he's played as a left-back, a right-back and even a centre-back -- in a two and a three.

He has recently returned to the Spain team under Luis Enrique and helped La Roja reach the semifinals of Euro 2020 last summer.

Barça are keen to take advantage of the free transfer market this summer, as they did last year with Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero.
