Man City defender Aymeric Laporte did not want to clear up his future in an interview with Marca. He explained why he criticised a Barcelona newspaper for their story about speaking to people close to him and reported they said he wanted to leave.
“I’ll try to be as direct as possible, I don’t like playing games, it is what it is. I know a lot of people don’t like it. I think it’s a virtue but it could be a defect because many people don’t accept it when you say things to their face. Always with respect. That’s my philosophy.”
On his future, he added: “As I said, I am here (with Spain), like a happy child, enjoying what I’m living through. I am enjoying it and what has to happen will happen.”
He was also critical of those who doubt his Spanish feeling after recently nationalising. “What annoyed me is that they were going to attack me, there’s many ways of doing it and that was not correct. It’s a complicated and delicate topic, many in favour and many more against.”
