Enrique Cerezo has not ruled out a possible return for the French forward, despite the difficult negotiations

Atlético de Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has always been open to the prospect of Antoine Griezmann returning to the Wanda Metropolitano. He has fond memories of Griezmann's performances during his last season for Los Colchoneros, and with Barça trying to find a new club for the French forward, Cerezo has once again went on record to say that 'Grizi' would be welcomed back with open arms to his former club.

The two clubs have spent the last few days negotiating a possible swap deal involving Griezmann and Spanish midfielder Saúl Ñíguez. Despite being a complex deal to carry out, Cerezo has not yet drawn a line under it: "In the world of football, anything is possible. Regarding Griezmann, I don't have a clue, I haven't even asked", Cerezo said at an event.

"I don't have a clue, I haven't been told anything. I'm completely in the dark. I don't know what the situation is with regards to the negotiations, or even if any negotiations are taking place, but you'll soon find out what's going to happen", he added.

Despite reports this morning in 'Ara' that negotiations had hit the rocks, Atléti is still looking to sign a forward. Saúl Ñíguez, meanwhile, may be involved in any future deal after informing the club of his desire to leave.
