They have interest in Wolves striker Rafa Mir who is currently in Japan with Spain

Atletico Madrid are not convinced Antoine Griezmann is rejoining them. They know it’s a very hard deal to put together, so they’re working on an alternative. Per Marca, they are looking at Rafa Mir as a partner for Luis Suarez in attack.

The Murcia born forward fits the profile Atletico like. He’s young, 24, has top level experience, with 16 goals for Huesca in La Liga and the Copa, and the team that owns him, Wolves, want to sell him as he only has a year left on his deal. His agent Carlos Bucero, has a good relationship with Atletico Madrid.

Rafa Mir’s potential move is only at the embryonic stage. He’s currently in Japan and focused on the Spanish Olympic team.

Griezmann would still be the priority but the swap deal for Saul Niguez has slowed to a halt in the last couple of days.
