The Frenchman's release clause will drop to 120 million euros in the summer

FC Barcelona could move for Antoine Griezmann again. According to L'Equipe, the Catalan club are weighing up trying to sign him this summer after failing to land him in 2018, when he announced he would stay at Atletico Madrid via a documentary.

One of the keys to his renewal with Atletic, as revealed by the French newspaper, is that his release clause drops from 200 million euros to 120 million this summer. That's a figure which makes it much more likely he could leave the club.

Griezmann signed a new deal last year until 2023 with the sliding clause.

Another important factor is Griezman's disappointment at Atletico's season. They have been knocked out of the Champions League already, losing to Juventus in the last 16. He was desperate to compete for Europe's top prize, especially with the final at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Barça, meanwhile, are looking into what is, once again, a big market opportunity.
