The French club's director of football, Leonardo de Araújo, wants to speak with Leo's entourage to see whether he is open to leaving

Manchester City could have a major rival in their pursuit of Lionel Messi this summer. According to 'AS', PSG are ready to show their hand as soon as they hear directly from Leo's entourage that he is open to leaving FC Barcelona.

PSG's director of football, Leonardo Araújo, has reached out to Messi's people to find out more about the clause which would allow him to leave on a free transfer, how long of a contract he'd want and for how much per season.

The French giants, who were beaten by Bayern Munich in the Champions League final, would love to line up Messi with Neymar Jr and Mbappe as their front three.

CLEARING UP THE DOUBTS

According to the newspaper, the initial contact was to clear up any doubts and Leonardo couldn't promise or guarantee any fees or figures at this moment in time.

One of the main issues PSG would need to navigate relates to Financial Fair Play and the club's wage bill. This opportunity on the market isn't something they or Manchester City had planned for.

Inter, who have been mentioned as a potential destination for Messi, are thought to be out of the race due to the figures involved in completing a deal.
