The defender will not leave the Catalan club for free at the end of the season

Barcelona first team player Ronald Araújo will not be a free agent on July 1 if the Catalan club are not able to register his contract within the economic margins left by La Liga, according to information from the newspaper 'AS'.

According to this information, in the Uruguayan defender's contract there is no specification about the option of being unilaterally free at zero cost if he has not entered the fair play limt imposed by the Spanish competition.

Araujo renewed his terms in April 2022 until June 2026 with a clause of €1 billion. If the centre-back fulfills what he has signed, he will remain at Spotify Camp Nou until he is 27 years old.

He arrived from CA Boston River in 2019 and began his career at the club with the reserve team, where he played 44 games. In the 2020-21 season and, after having already played some games with the first team, he joined the first team permanently.

Now, Araujo has become a key member of the team coached by Xavi Hernández and one of the best centre-backs in world football.
