Chile make their debut in the competition in the early hours of Tuesday morning against Japan

FC Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal is getting ready to lead Chile into another Copa America. "This is a team you should fear from the beginning until the final," he said ahead of their debut against Japan.

Vidal is one of the stars of the tournament and was one of the few bright spots in a dark end to the season at the Camp Nou.

"We hope to win that beautiful trophy. It's important to focus on each match but we're going to be under pressure from the first minute."

Chile, who won the Copa America in 2015 and 2016, are currently in a transitional phase as youngsters are brought into the side under new coach Reinaldo Rueda. The goal is obviously to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar but Vidal wants to add another trophy to his cabinet.

"We know we've got a lot of new players but we're only thinking about winning the Copa, not qualifying for the World Cup."

Vidal spoke about Japan and pointed out Takefusa Kubo as someone to watch out for.

"Kubo is a player with a lot of fo quality. There's a reason Real Madrid signed him. They've analysed their team and know how to stop them."
