The Brazilian talent will soon be a Barcelona player

Gremio midfielder Arthur has spoken for the first time after Barcelona met his side to thrash out a transfer deal.

"I haven't signed anything yet but the negotiations are going on track," said Arthur, appearing with his father Ailton Melo and his brother Paulo Henrique.

Meanwhile Gremio's director of football Andre Zanotta said: "We had a meeting on Monday in Porto Alegre. The matter is on course. We are ready for there to be a definitive agreement but we think that until next week there won't be a positive outcome."

However the president of the club, Romildo Bozan Jr, said: "The negotiations are not defined yet, they have advanced but there are points that have to be consolidated, which go beyond the payments in installments.

"What I can say is that, if the deal is done or not, Arthur will stay with us this season." That means he will not move to Barcelona in the summer, but in the 2019 January window.
