The midfielder remains in Brazil and will not play for the club again

Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo remains in Brazil refusing to return to training with the Catalan club, who are preparing for the Champions League.

Barça don't understand the player's stance and have opened disciplinary proceedings against him which could see the biggest fine in the club's history.

Next week, Arthur's lawyers will begin talks with Barça and present their own allegations. The Blaugrana will study the allegations and it will be then when they make a decision on the Brazilian's future.

Barça have been annoyed at Arthur's way of dealing with this situation. They feel that, with dialogue, they could have reached a pact, or at least tried to.

Given the midfielder's posture, though, Barça are not willing to make concessions and, as explained, could hand out the biggest ever fine in the club's history.

Meanwhile, Arthur will remain in Brazil with no plans on returning. He does not want to be involved in the club's Champions League campaign, which resumes next Saturday with the last 16 second leg game against Napoli at Camp Nou.

Arthur, 23, grew frustrated at his isolation after his transfer to Juventus was confirmed. Quique Setien stopped picking him and said he would only play if it was essential.
