Arthur 'explodes' in Brazil: I have more freedom than at Barça

"With the national team, I have more freedom to drop back and build play"

Arthur Melo feels more comfortable with the Brazilian national team than with Barcelona. The player himself has admitted as much while back in his homeland, where he played as a right interior in the win over Qatar.

"The main thing is I take part in building the play higher at Barça," he said. "With the national team, I have more freedom to drop back and build play. I think that's the biggest difference."

In his first season at Barcelona, Arthur's role in the team has been like a rollercoaster. Semetimes he has been a regular thanks to some brilliant performances -- like against Tottenham -- and other times he's been out of the side.

In addition, Arthur also said that Brazil coach Tite gives him much more "freedom" on the pitch than Barça's Ernesto Valverde.

"Tite gives me more freedom to look for the ball deeper," he added. "I don't get that freedom at Barcelona. There, I have to receive the ball between the lines and get further forward."

Arthur gave two assists in his first season with Barça and has drawn comparisons to Xavi Hernandez.
