Arsenal are ready to challenge Manchester United in the race to sign Samuel Umtiti. FC Barcelona have decided to put the French centre back up for sale and Mikel Arteta's side are known admirers of Umtiti's.
After the story was originally broken by SPORT, the British press hasn't wasted any time in sounding out possible destinations for the defender. Arsenal join Manchester United in wanting to add the experienced Umtiti to their creaking backlines. In the case of the Gunners, they would want to pair Samuel with youngster William Saliba.
As things stand, United are in pole position to land Umtiti but Arsenal won't give up without a fight. Despite his irregular form at Barça, mainly due to injuries, his market value remains high amongst Premier League sides.
Interest in Umtiti isn't new but the fact Barça are now willing to listen to offers has put many clubs on alert.
