The Girona full-back is an option to fill the right-back role at Camp Nou

Arnau Martínez, at only 19 years old, has become one of Girona's most outstanding players, a club where he is the youngest goalscorer in the entity's history.

In an interview with TV3, the Girona right-back has expressed an interest in returning to Barça. "If I go back, it will be as part of the first team. Obviously, I would like to go back to Barça, just as I would like to go to any of the best clubs in the world," Arnau said.

The defender came through at La Masía, where he met Alejandro Balde in the youth teams and their friendship continues to this day.

After eight seasons wearing the Barça shirt, though, Arnau left. "I have to thank them for releasing me, because otherwise I wouldn't be here now. Maybe I would be playing for Barça's reserve team," he admits.

Arnau's return to Barça could come true in winter, or in the summer window ahead of next season. The Girona full-back expressed his admiration for coach Xavi Hernández, who wants him in his ranks.

"I like him as a footballer and as a coach, who is doing very well. I've been a Barça fan all my life. When I was born I was made a member and I always went to games with my parents and my cousin.

Arnau is now focused on the Spain under-21 team, along with Barça duo Arnau Tenas and Alejandro Balde.
