Xavi's still without the majority of his players due to the World Cup in Qatar

Barcelona returned to training on Monday after more than two weeks off. Those not involved in the World Cup were back under Xavi's orders as planning begins for the game against Espanyol on Dec. 31.

Xavi was the first to arrive and, next, was a player who had been out in Qatar: Ronald Araujo. The defender, who was part of the Uruguay squad that was eliminated in the group stage but did not play, is back doing recovery work with Barça.

He has not played since the October international break when he got injured playing for Uruguay, which saw him miss all his country's games at the World Cup.

Also arriving throughout the morning were Arnau Tenas, Héctor Bellerín, Sergi Roberto, Iñaki Peña, Pablo Torre, Marcos Alonso and director of football Mateu Alemany.

Christensen, Ter Stegen and Lewandowski, all eliminated with Denmark, Germany and Poland respectively, have been given a few days off. Another 13 players are still involved with their nations in Qatar.
