The Barca winger spoke of his future Camp Nou team-mate, currently at Man City

Ansu Fati continues his recovery process after the operation he undertook on November 9 on the meniscus in his left knee. Neither he nor the club are going to rush their way back, which would be a big mistake. The 18-year-old attacker was recently nominated for the Laureus award as ‘revelation of the year’, one of the big prizes in the sports world.

Fati spoke to Barcelona’s official media channels, including of his friend and future team-mate Eric Garcia, currently at Man City.

“We’ve grown up together since we were kids, we’ve always competed against each other and he’s helped me to improve,” said Ansu.

“He was very hard to dribble past and overcome, he’s always had that fight since we were kids. Later we’ve coincided in the national team, something we always dreamed of.”

On his nomination he added “It’s an honour, you only have to see the names of the sportspeople there and it’s a pride to be there. I’m very grateful to all those who voted for me, I didn’t expect it.

“To play at Barca is a dream I’ve had since I arrived here. You mark the objective or reaching the first team and I did it with hard work. It’s the dream that any kid arrives at La Masia with.”
