The former Barcelona midfield playmaker spoke about the virus

Andres Iniesta sent a message from Japan in which he offered his support to the Spanish people and thanked the doctors and nurses for their work in the battle to control the coronavirus.

Iniesta, who plays for Vissel Kobe, made a video, explaining it was "a message of strength, support and gratitude for all the professionals who every minute are fighting to save so many lives. For all the effort you're making, the tireless, incalculable work, we thank you."

Iniesta added: "We're in your hands and heads. Assistants, health workers, all the people who are investigating to find a way to stop this. I back you to find strength where there isn't. For the incredible work that you have done. To all security forces and public services who are helping to make this all easier. For all the families of the victims, these are terrible moments. My thoughts and love for all of them."

The former Barca captain said that "We should, between us, stop this, we have to stop this so that normality can return as soon as possible. Each one from our position. In any way we can, in the present and what will come in the future. We should help between us all, the people that need it most. There's only one way, doing this and helping ourselves. There's no other formula."
