The club confirmed the appointment on Wednesday

It will have a slight affect on Robert Fernandez's duties

FC Barcelona confirmed on Tuesday that Guillermo Amor is the first team's new Institutional and Sporting Relations director

The former player will also maintain his role working within La Masia, where he works with Jose Mari Bakero overseeing the club's youth teams.

Guillermo Amor and José Mari Bakero, since earlier this year, have been in charge of Barça B, Juvenil A and Juvenil B.

Amor takes over some of Albert Soler's duties but also some of Robert Fernandez's. Robert will no longer travel with the first team and will focus exclusively on transfers.

Here's the statement made by FC Barcelona:

"As a result of the restructuring of the Area of Professional Football, FC Barcelona has named Guillermo Amor as the new man responsible for Institutional and Sporting Relations for the football first team. Guillermo Amor will keep his responsibilities within the area of professional youth football.

"The technical secretary Robert Fernández will focus his work on the analysis of the football transfer market and player recruitment."
