Alexis Sanchez and Angel Di Maria both offer themselves to Barcelona

Barcelona still possesses a certain magnetism for footballers despite some difficult years and a tough financial situation. That is illustrated by the number of players that offer themselves to the club, some still with contracts in vigor.

Two of the latest players to join that list of wanting to play for the club (again in one case) are Angel Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez. The Argentine winger came close to signing a few years ago and the Chilean forward was sounded out as a possible option in January. As of now, though, it's difficult that they join Barça this summer.

Everything depends on money. The more than probable departure of Ousmane Dembele and Adama Traore's return to Wolves following his loan will oblige the club to look for a winger.

Coach Xavi Hernandez wants youth, confidence and quality. Leeds United's Raphinha is the top target but it is an expensive deal to pull off and the English side are not being flexible. The player will play his part and Barça are half-optimistic, but it will all depend on if there are funds.

In an uncertain summer, Barça have spoken with many options and know Di Maria and Alexis would come with their eyes closed, for free and on low-ish deals. There is no doubt of their quality and they could still have good years ahead of them, but they are not the first options. In July things will become clearer.

Di Maria has an offer from Juventus but has decided to wait and see what happens with Barça. Alexis is speaking with Sevilla because Monchi thinks he could work there. But there is nothing signed and he also has an eye on Barça.
