Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has spoken to the magazine GQ and revealed some surprising anecdotes from his life in football so far.

"When I was little I was Celtic, but now with the (Steven) Gerrard connection (at Rangers), I'm neutral," he said. "I would say my other favourite team is Barcelona. I feel they have the same values and beliefs as Liverpool."

Alexander-Arnold also took Barça's side when asked whether he preferred Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. "For me, Messi," he said.

The England international said he could imagine spending his whole career at Anfield but was also asked if he could see himself playing in La Liga or the Bundesliga.

"It’s not something I’ve ever really thought about," he answered. "I’ve always loved Liverpool. I’ve always supported them. I’ve always played for them. So, I’ve never had that reason to think about it.

"Yeah, still now, I wouldn’t sit there in my room and daydream about playing somewhere else. Right now, I’m a Liverpool player. I love the club more than anything. I love everything about it. I love the fans, the people. I love the city. So, no, why would I think about that?"
