The Bayern Munich wants to move clubs and Barcelona are in the running

Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany says a deal to sign Robert Lewandowski is nowhere near closed after the striker revealed his desire to leave Bayern Munich this weekend.

"Lewandowski? It's not done at all. We respect players that have contracts with other clubs. It's going to be a long transfer market," Alemany told Movistar.

Alemany was also asked if Barça will end up selling midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer. The Dutchman's one of the players in the squad with the most suitors and Barça would sell for 90-100 million euros.

"He's an important player with a lot of quality," Alemany said of De Jong. "We will judge things on each situation. No decision has been made."

The director of football recognised Barça want to strengthen their squad because they want to "fight for every trophy next season," but they're conditioned by LaLiga's fair play rules.
