The possibility of Xavi Hernandez replacing Ernesto Valverde as the new FC Barcelona coach is quickly gaining traction.
One day after Al Sadd released a statement on their manager, their sporting director, Muhammad Ghulam Al Balushi, has confirmed to Qatari television that negotiations are underway between Barça and Xavi.
"There are talks between Xavi and Barcelona now and we wish him success wherever he wants to go," he said, suggesting an agreement could be imminent.
Barça CEO Oscar Grau and sporting director Eric Abidal are in Qatar where they met with Xavi on Friday to sound out his availability.
They tried to hide the meeting by saying that they were in Doha to check in on Ousmane Dembele, who is doing recovery work on a hamstring injury in the Middle East.
