Ajax defender De Ligt on whether he prefers Barcelona or Manchester
The centre-back is wanted by Barça but a January move looks unlikely at the moment
Matthijs De Ligt starred as Holland beat Germany 3-0 on Saturday -- on the pitch and in the mixed zone. At the end of the UEFA Nations League game, the young Ajax centre-back was asked about being linked with FC Barcelona and Manchester United.
Asked who he would choose, De Ligt responded: "Ajax! The newspapers need to write something, it's normal (the stories)."
However, the interviewer went one step further and asked where he would prefer to go on holiday for a weekend: "Ha ha ha, Barcelona! I like the sun."
Meanwhile, Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars made the Dutch club's stance clear earlier in the day, saying there is "zero chance" of the defender leaving in January.
But former Barça player Overmars did say it's a "possibility" that De Ligt moves on next summer.
