After a season to forget at Manchester City in which his opportunities to play were largely restricted, Sergio Aguero will train with Barça's first team squad for the first time this Friday. As reported by SPORT, the Argentina striker feels good and would like to feature in this Sunday's Joan Gamper Trophy against Juventus. It remains to be seen, however, whether Koeman and his fitness coaches could be persuaded to give him a run out so soon after his first session.
Coming off the back of his worst season of the last 10 years (in which he had to deal with the consequences of a serious knee injury), Aguero wants to take this opportunity with both hands. He is also excited about his friend and international team mate, Leo Messi, signing a new deal at the club.
From the outside, FC Barcelona fans are keen to find out whether the Argentina striker is capable of reigniting the spark that made him one of the best strikers in the history of Manchester City. Koeman has went on record to say that he expects to work with all of his attacking options, and that each of them are capable of offering something different.
A FEAR-INDUCING ATTACK
Memphis, Griezmann, Messi and Agüero. Not to mention Ansu Fati and Dembélé when they return from injury. This selection of attackers, who can all offer something different to the side, will strike fear into the hearts of their opponents.
Going back to Aguero, he is unquestionably Barça's least convincing summer signing. While we have seen him shine and do magnificent things in the past, we cannot escape the feeling that he has started to decline.
Koeman will barely have a week to work with the full squad before the LaLiga curtain raiser. While Memphis and Depay have been training together for many days and have shown a good understanding, Leo and Aguero will barely have any training sessions before the game against Real Sociedad on August 15. It remains to be seen what Kun is able to offer to the side, and what his role in the attack will be.
