Agreement in principle for the transfer of Luis Suarez to Atletico Madrid

Luis Suarez is edging closer to Atletico Madrid. SPORT have learned that there's an agreement in principle between Barcelona and Atletico for the transfer of the striker. The deal is pending an OK from the player, who will sign a two-year deal in the Spanish capital. 

The details have not emerged regarding the cost of the transfer, although it will be largely based on variables, such as games played and progress and in Europe. The agreement between the clubs has been closed, though, and everything suggests Suarez will now move to Atletico. 

Tuesday was a frantic day for Suarez. From being close to Juventus, Atletico emerged on the scene and he quickly closed an agreement on personal terms with the club ahead of a free transfer, but everything changed. 

Barça were not prepared to let him join a direct rival for nothing, so a new agreement was needed. Suarez was upset because he thought he had a deal in place with the Catalan club to leave for free and forgo part of the final year of his salary at Camp Nou. 

However, his legal team have managed to find a new agreement with Barça and now the final details just need to be ironed out to confirm the transfer.
