After impressing for Spain, Barça are set to make a move for Dani Olmo

The former La Masia star's rise hasn't got unnoticed at the Camp Nou and the midfielder could be available for around €25m

On the 14th November 2018, SPORT exclusively revealed that FC Barcelona were interested in Dani Olmo. This was early on in the season and since then Dani has finished the previous campaign with Dinamo Zagreb in fantastic form. He helped his side win the league and impressed onlookers with his performances in the Europa League. This has caused many of Europe's bigger sides to join Barça in impressing an interest in the young midfielder.

Olmo, who is currently with Spain's U21 side, continues to impress for his national team and has helped them reach the semi-finals of the competition. After the team lost their opening match with Olmo on the bench, the former La Masia man returned to the starting lineup for Spain and they've won their next two.

The player is now open to leaving Dinamo this summer. Offers have come in for Olmo before - and were rejected - but they would sell should a team offer in the region of €25m-€30m.

Villarreal, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid have all lodged offers which were turned down by the Croatian team. Real Sociedad were the last to side to try and negotiate a deal for Olmo.

Barça, for their part, have kept in touch with the player's agent for a while now. The problem when it comes to firming up that interest with an offer is the divided opinion amongst those tasking with making the decisions. Olmo is just another example of a player who didn't see a way into the first team when he was at La Masia. It's telling due to the fact there are no current Barça players in Spain's U21 squad.

There was a belief that anyone who decided to leave Barça should not be brought back to the club. This was said by Pep Segura although, more recently, Josep Vives tried to 'edit' those words by saying it depended on the context of the situation. "Everything is much more complex than that and we aren't going to make a specific hardline rule." This was aimed at the reports linking Barça with Neymar but it would apply to Olmo's situation too. Many at the club believe letting the youngster leave was a major error.

Barça asked about Olmo last week but they are aware of the interest from elsewhere and that he could sign for someone very soon. But Barça remain interested and are actually planning on meeting the player's agent this week.

The asking price - €25m to €30m - nor the player's personal terms are likely to complicate a transfer. The only doubt is where Olmo would fit in the current team as moves for Griezmann and Neymar appear likely to happen this summer.

For now, it's a question of wait and see. Olmo will play in the U21 semi-final this week and, if he puts in another stellar performance, could have even more sides interested in his signature.
