Antoine Griezmann confirmed on Thursday that he will not leave Atletico

Antoine Griezmann confirmed on Thursday that he will stay at Atletico Madrid. Barcelona remain without their star signing for this summer but the world doesn't end here. The 100 million euros the club had planned to spend on him can be spent elsewhere.

The top target could be Christian Eriksen. He doesn't play in attack like Griezmann but strengthening in midfield following the loss of Andres Iniesta is a big objective this summer.

Tottenham are not a selling club and there are no release clauses in England, so it's a complicated deal to do. In principle, his value would be around 225 million euros. Between what the club wanted to spend on other signings and what they had designated for Griezmann, they could just about do the deal which would please the fans... but is it too much money?

Signing the Danish star would allow Philippe Coutinho to play further forward with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, without forgetting Ousmane Dembele.

There are other names on the table, too, like Ajax's Frenkie De Jong and Thiago Alcantara.

Another forward? salah?

Another way to approach it would be look for another forward like Griezmann -- although they're not easy to find in the current market. What they wanted with the France star was a goal scorer, but also someone who can create and press opposition defences.

Barça were so convinced they would sign Griezmann that they didn't look for other forwards as a backup. However, it's clear that the big dream would be Mohamed Salah. But, like with Eriksen, he wouldn't be cheap -- around 228 million euros according to The Sun.
