The defender could be a replacement for Samuel Umtiti this summer

Alessio Romagnoli is being linked to Barcelona again, with the AC Milan central defender currently in conversations with the club about renewing his deal. Per La Gazette Dello Sport, the Zaguero considers that the raise offered to him does not correspond with his level of performance, so is looking to move. Like all clubs, Milan are having financial problems and want to keep their wage bill down. They have offered him a raise from 3.5m euros to 4m euros per season, insufficient for the player.

Romagnoli ends his contract in 2022 and Joan Laporta, the Barcelona president, has a good relationship with his agent Mino Raiola - who also has Erling Haaland on his books. The Italian media outlet says that Romagnoli could be a replacement for Samuel Umtiti, who Barcelona are trying to find an exit for this summer. Romagnoli, who arrived in 2015 from Roma, has a 20m euro price tag.

Barcelona have Eric Garcia arriving already to join Pique, Araujo and Lenglet, and possibly Umtiti, depending on if he can find an exit. That means it’s hard to see Romagnoli coming with Barcelona needing players in other areas.
