The Italian champions may step into the hole left by Roma who pulled out on Monday
Roma pulled out of the Joan Gamper unexpectedly and Barcelona have started to work on finding a new opponent who can face their men and women’s teams in a friendly on August 6.
SPORT have learned that this could be Serie A champions AC Milan. Stefano Pioli’s side won the Italian league after an 11 year spell without it, so would be a tough test for Xavi and his men ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Laia Codina, from the women’s team, spent last season on loan at AC Milan and is now back at Barcelona, so this would also be an interesting match up for her.
Barcelona said on Monday they would look at whether they could take legal action against Roma for pulling out ‘unexpectedly and unjustifiably”.
